If a device update is available, it will be downloaded in the background while the Capture unit is online. The update will be installed during the next shutdown to prevent any interruption during usage.
If the update includes changes to the Reader software, the Reader update will be applied next time the units are paired.
To ensure you are running the latest software prior to a job:
-
Turn on Capture and Reader devices, let update run. If the lights on your Capture unit are all flashing on rotation one by one, that means an update is running.
-
Devices will power down.
-
Turn back on the Capture unit and pair the Reader. Now the Reader will update.
- During a Reader update, the Reader screen will display the message "Updating..." with a progress bar. When the bar is filled, the Reader will reboot to its new software version and will reconnect to the Capture unit.
|
Note: Readers change their settings and software based on the Capture unit that they are paired with. This means that a Reader will update or downgrade depending on what software version the Capture unit is running. When the Reader pairs with a Capture unit, it will ask what version of Reader software the Capture unit is expecting, and then automatically start upgrading or downgrading itself accordingly. |
You can also check if an update is available for your device on the Console:
- Turn on Capture unit and Reader.
- Go to the device page on Console. If an update is available, you will see a green ! Update Available button next to the Logs button. Click to continue.
- A modal will pop up in your window explaining the the update purpose. Click the blue Update button to continue.
- Let the device download the updates, it should reconnect to the Console once complete.

Extra tip: Not sure what device version you're running? When you power up a Capture unit, open the logs, one of the opening lines will say what system version is running. |
