Depending on how you work, you may want to change when/how the full-sized images are uploaded. Capture devices have inbuilt 3G/4G cellular connections to allow real-time uploads of full-size images. However, sometimes WiFi might be the better option for you. You can easily configure the device upload method on the Console.

|
Note: Regardless of this setting, a Walker will always try to upload tiny thumbnail images to the Console which will hold the place of the full-sized images until they are uploaded – there is no cost for this. |
Setting your Image Upload Method
- With your Capture device turned on, open the Console and click on the Devices tab on the top banner and select the relevant Capture device.
- Image Upload Method is one of the configurable settings under Device Settings. You can choose between WiFi + Cellular, WiFi Only and Don't upload.
Do not upload:
If you are working in a location with no cellular (3G/4G) coverage and no onsite WiFi, you can save a significant amount of battery by turning off WiFi and 3G/4G. The trade-off is that no full-sized images will be uploaded until you switch to one of the other image upload methods. Image thumbs will continue to be uploaded automatically.
WiFi Only:
This setting will only allow full-sized image uploads using a WiFi connection. You will need to enable WiFi and enter the WiFi network name and password in the Console while Capture is online.
WiFi + Cellular:
This option ensures the most instant uploads of full-sized images. Images will be uploaded in real-time first through an available WiFi option, and then use the inbuilt 3G/4G cellular connection as a second option (no configuration needed).

|
Note: Manual image uploads are an alternative solution to add images to the Console without using a Capture device. |
WiFi
5G WiFi networks are not currently supported. 2.4GHz WiFi connections only (if it's not labeled as 5G it will almost certainly be a 2.4GHz WiFi network).
|
|
Note: We do not recommend relying on WiFi for real-time uploads, even if you're connecting to a 'fast' hotspot (e.g. your mobile phone). WiFi is a perfect solution for getting back to the office and leaving the device to upload overnight. |
Enabling WiFi
- WiFi settings can only be changed when the device is turned on and connected to the Console.
- You are now on the Device Page and can access the Device Settings section at the bottom of the page. You can choose Yes to enable WiFi or No to disable WiFi.
- Once WiFi is enabled, you will be able to enter the name of the WiFi network you want the Walker to connect to and the password to join the network.

|
Note: If the WiFi network you want to use has captive portal restrictions turned on, you will need to contact the network owner to arrange special access. |
