Auto Cropping allows Studios to opt-in for images to be automatically cropped by the system to match the aspect ratio of the ordered product.
By default, all new client session stages will have Auto Cropping enabled (if they are sending orders to the lab). This does not affect any existing sessions in your Commerce account, which instead will have the Cropping Behavior option set to Hold orders where product and image aspect ratios do not match (see below).
Jump to:
Updating the Cropping Behavior for a proof session stage:
- Locate the Session in the Client & Sessions > Sessions area and click on the session name.
- Click the gear icon next to the proof session stage, then Edit.
- In the Direct Fulfillment section, set “Send orders to lab” to Yes.
- Set the Cropping Behavior using the drop-down provided.
- Attempt to Auto Crop: System will automatically attempt to crop images to match the aspect ratio of the product.
- Hold orders where product and image aspect ratios do not match: Orders will show attention required reasons when product and image aspect ratios do not match.
- Scroll to the bottom of the page, then click Update.
Auto Cropping behavior
The Auto Cropping behavior in the system will attempt to Auto Crop an image by looking at the aspect ratio defined by the associated product's Image Node and performing a center-based crop to match said aspect ratio. There are a few rules for what types of images support auto cropping:
-
Auto Cropping only applies for particular Supplier Products.
-
Auto Cropping only applies for images that have gone through Face Indexing.
-
Auto Cropping only applies for images that have one or more faces.
When an image is attempting to be auto cropped, an "Attention required" message may appear for images that are unable to be cropped or that will result in an undesirable crop. Similarly, some images may not require cropping. This includes:
-
Images that already match the aspect ratio of the node will not be cropped.
-
Images that do not have any faces.
-
Crops that are attempted but “cut off” any of the faces in an image.
