Importing subject data with or without images directly into Studio is possible! It's true! You can do it!
Import data (no images)
- Select the Session in Studio.
- Open the Studio menu panel on the left and click the Import button at the bottom of the list.
- Click the Choose button to upload the relevant CSV data file. Click the green Next button in the top right corner to continue. See the video below (0:36) to see an example of a data file upload.
- You'll now see the uploaded information subject to headers. If you're happy, again, click the green Next button in the top right corner to continue. If there is anything that needs attention, you'll see a warning and can update the error on this page. Click Next to continue.
- You'll see a summary page of what is to be uploaded. Since this is just a simple CSV Data upload, there will be no Image Files. Click the green Upload to Session button.
- You can now watch the upload in action as you're provided with status updates for each subject.

Note: Be careful not to use symbols like # in the CSV files you upload. The system will not like it and won't process the file correctly. Remove these symbols before uploading. |
Import data and images
- Select the Session in Studio.
- Click the Studio button on the left and click the Import button at the bottom of the list.
- Click the Choose button to upload the relevant CSV data file and then the folder of images.
- Click the green Next button in the top right corner to continue.
- Some changes to the formatting can be made on this page. Click Next when happy.
- This next area is to review any flagged warnings or make any final changes to the data. You can also deselect a row if you don't want it to be included in the upload. Click Next when ready.
- The summary page will show the number of data rows and images that will be uploaded. Ignored rows will also be displayed.
- Press the green Upload to Session button. Statuses will update as the upload progresses.
- Once complete, click the Studio menu button, and select Images to see the photos freshly uploaded.

Note: If using facial recognition for groups, the currently supported file size limit is 30MB. Please ensure the images you upload are below this threshold. |
Import known group data into Studio
- Select the Session in Studio.
- Open the Studio menu panel on the left and click the Import button at the bottom of the list.
- The CSV that needs to be uploaded requires some additional changes. Add the following:
- Add a
Grouprow, and useGroupandPhotoas the First and Last Name. - Add a
Shared FilesandIs Sharedcolumns. These columns identify which image file will be shared with the specific subjects. - The
Is Sharedcolumn requires a1on theGrouprow to give the system permission to share that image across subjects.Note: If a subject is in multiple group images, they are listed in the
Shared Filescolumn but are comma separated.
- Add a
- Click the Choose button to upload the updated CSV data file. Ensure that the Import Images Folder has been left blank, and click the green Next button in the top right corner to continue.
- You'll now see the uploaded information subject to headers. If you're happy, again, click the green Next button in the top right corner to continue. If there is anything that needs attention, you'll see a warning and can update the error on this page. Click Next to continue.
- You'll see a summary page of what is to be uploaded. Since this is just a simple CSV Data upload, there will be no Image Files. Click the green Upload to Session button.
- You can now watch the upload in action as you're provided with status updates for each subject and group.
Importing image tags through Studio
If you are uploading data into Studio you may want to use an extra column in the CSV to also import tags. This can save a lot of time.
- Head over to Studio > Import Subject & Images and upload the relevant CSV file and map the columns to existing data points in Studio.
Note: The column header must be ' Image Tag ' and must be mapped upon upload.
- Voila! All image tags have been applied to the images as per your data upload. These tags will also be viewable within Commerce. If you have any tag rules then these rules will be applied to these images (if rules are applicable).
