Knowing your battery level
Battery levels are displayed on the paired Reader screen: the battery level of the Reader (R) and the Capture Walker (W). You can also see the battery level of all online devices on the Console on both the Event and Device pages. Both devices will show a number %.

|
Note: When either of the devices hit 10% charge remaining, a warning notification will be displayed on the Reader screen. Press the centre button of the Reader to dismiss the message and get the unit on charge. Both units will power down prior to hitting 0%, so don't delay putting it on charge once low battery is registered. |
Battery Care
Keeping the device battery healthy can extend the life of your device significantly. Using underpowered USB ports or leaving the batteries flat can actually do damage to the batteries in your devices.
Our devices are compatible with Fast Charging so when the battery on your device gets low, it will try to pull more power through. If you are using a single port USB charger, it should be rated to 12W (equal to 5V @ 2.4A). That means the USB port on your laptop or that 5W Apple wall-charger isn't going to be giving our devices enough juice.
If you are using a multi-port charger, be aware that just because there is more than 12W of total power, it doesn't mean that every port is going to be able to give the same level of power. The magic number you are looking for on each port is 2.4A (or more).
None of this is to say you can't use a lower-rated charger or USB port if you need to save yourself. Rather, we recommend using under-powered chargers shouldn't be how your devices are charged as standard procedure.
If this is all getting too much, contact your Slack channel to order the wall chargers and battery power banks which we've hand-picked ourselves (US-customers only).
Charging times
When using a fast charger, Capture devices charge to 50% in 30-40 minutes and 100% in around 90 minutes. Using a standard charger approximately doubles these times. Be careful using laptops or other computers to charge your devices, they typically do not continue to charge connected devices when they are asleep.

Note: To ensure the ongoing health of your device's battery, each of your Capture devices should be fully charged at least once every two weeks. |
Charging while in use
Yes, you can use a battery bank or power source to charge your device while they are in use. Just remember the guides above - the devices will need at least 2.4A from the USB port, otherwise, the battery percentage will continue to drop.
If in doubt, you can always use our official 5,000mAh battery bank and battery holder, contact your Slack channel to order today.
Charging Indicator & Warning Lights
When you plug in the USB cable to your device, you will see that there is one green and one red light shining from the USB port of the Capture device. A solid red light indicates that the device is currently charging. If that red light is flashing, it means it is not charging. This may be because it can't draw enough power due to a damaged cord or underpowered power source on the other end.
When the device has finished charging, the red light will go out and the green light will stay on. You can double-check that it is fully charged by turning it on and checking either the Console or the screen of a paired Reader.
