When creating a new form, you will see the option to select Subject Data Mappings. These mappings allow data collected in a form to be given meaning beyond being some text data entry information that is collected from a parent.
The data mappings allow two things to be possible:
- It allows the Fotomerchant system to know what type of data is in these fields.
- It allows Fotomerchant to map pre-orders to Subjects. This is particularly important when the pre-orders are created in the system before Subjects are created in a Session. It is very common for studios to collect pre-orders online without having any Subject data from the School about who the kids are.

When to use Subject Data Mappings
When collecting pre-order data about the Subject related to the Order.
When not to use Subject Data Mappings
When collecting data about a Product or Package being sold. e.g. Sports Player Stats and Information for a Trading Card product.
When data does not relate to the subject. e.g. Matching the form field "Coach Name" to "Name" is incorrect because the Coach isn't generally the Subject, the Player is.
