A Green Screen Product Option allows you to add a background selection to a product or package. Giving your customers the freedom to choose the background for their child's portrait may help increase sales and make them feel more ownership over their purchase. Customers will be able to preview their image(s) with each background to determine their selection.

Important note:  If a set of backgrounds are in use and live in the shopping cart we suggest that you make any changes at a quiet time of day when people are less likely to be shopping. If there is any pricing associated with the use of a background - all JSON changes to the catalog need to be in place before new backgrounds are added to ensure charges will be live when needed.

 

Create a Green Screen Product Option

Note: If you’re using direct fulfillment with a lab, check with your support team to make sure you can add this to your catalog.  Additional note: Before you add this product option, make sure to add background images to your Media Library. See our Adding Green Screen Backgrounds to the Media Library article for assistance.

1. Inside of your Commerce account, click Products from the menu panel and select Product Options from the drop-down menu.
2. Click the +Product Option button in the top right corner.
3. Choose Green Screen for type.
4. Complete the information fields using the help text provided on the page. Note: While Code is optional, we recommend always adding a code so that order exports can be created correctly. 
5. To add background choices for your customer to select from, click the Add an Option button at the bottom of the page.
   • Give each option a label (what will appear in the drop-down for customers). You can also provide a code and description if applicable.
   • Under Green Screen Background, click the image to select the background from your Media Library.
   • You can also select an image for the foreground, which is a great way to add a school logo and/or year to any image for an additional fee. Similar to the backgrounds, these will need to have already been added to your media library. 
   • You can select the “Default” checkbox to have that option be automatically selected.
6. When you have added all of your options, click the Save button. You can also check the “Save and create another Product Option” box before saving to be directed to another Create a Product Option page.

Adding the Product Option to a Product/Package within a Catalog

1. Navigate to the catalog containing the product you wish to add the product option to. Click Store from the menu panel, then select Catalogs. 
2. Click on the gear icon to select the Edit action or click on the catalog name.
3. Click the “Advanced Configuration” link under the product or package. This will open the Shopping Cart Information page for that item.
4. Click Add Product Option. 
5. Select the product option you wish to add from the drop-down menu. You can add more than one product option if needed.
6. Scroll to the bottom of the page and click Save.

Quick Tips: Need this product option to stay with a product or package in multiple catalogs? Instead of following the steps above, you can add the product option to the product or package itself by editing the item within the Products or Packages screen. If you would like to add pricing to this product option, please reach out to your support team and they will put this in place for you.

Retire a background in a Product Option

1. Click Products > Product Options from the left menu panel and select the particular product option that needs updating.
2. Scroll down to locate the particular Green Screen Background options. 
3. Click the check box to the right of the option description which is labelled Retire this option.
   
4. If you are replacing this background with another option, scroll down to and click the blue Add an Option and follow the process listed above.
5. Once all changes have been made, scroll down to the bottom of the page and click the green Save button.
