There are two ways to allocate a Capture device with Commerce: manually, and using a Job Sheet.
The first thing you will need is to ensure that the session is enabled to use Capture:
- Click Clients & Sessions > Sessions in the navigation menu.
- Find the correct session and click the grey cog icon next to the session name and select Edit in the drop down menu.
- Once on the Edit page, scroll down to make sure Capture is enabled in the session. Click Yes to Enable Capture. Save any changes.
Consider updating your Session Templates to have Capture enabled from creation. Yay! Now you can add devices!
Adding a Capture device to a session manually
- Navigate to the Clients & Sessions > Sessions area.
- Find the correct session and click the grey cog icon next to the session name and select Edit in the drop down menu.
- Check that Capture has been enabled (instructions above), click the blue Add Capture Device button to connect the device you wish to use use.
- Scroll to the bottom of the page and press the green Save button.

Note: By connecting your Capture device to a new session it will disconnect for any previous sessions. Make sure the Capture device has finished being used in a previous job before connecting. |
Using a Job Sheet to allocate a Capture device to a session
- To create the barcode/QR job code, first open the relevant session.
- Click the blue Actions button in the right hand corner and select Generate Job Barcode Sheet from the drop down list.
- In the pop up menu you can select the data points you would like to show on your code. Client and Client Session are automatically added. There is space for additional instructions if you wish to have some the on the bar code sheet. You can then click Generate PNG or Generate PDF to generate your sheet.
- Once the job sheet has downloaded, you can open it and print the sheet. This sheet can be taken with the Capture device and scanned before you started using the device to connect the device to the session. Please review the Lock Settings below - they come into effect when you scan a job sheet.
Lock Settings
To help reduce the risk of configuration changes inadvertently removing the connected session/event, device settings will be locked when a job sheet is scanned.
Once the update is in place Console will lock the options to configure a device, things such as shot mode etc. After a device scans a job sheet barcode the device locks. You will have a tag warning appear briefly on the reader as well.
This locking is visible inside Console and all configuration options are not shown. Click the Unlock button to change the settings.

Currently, there are no major alerts in Commerce like there are in Console. However, the configuration options will be locked and any attempt to change them will incur an error message.
To remove the lock and make settings changes, either press the unlock button inside Console or by shutting down the device. When re-starting a device, always begin by scanning the job code again.
