Spending hundreds of hours manually sorting through pre-orders is a thing of the past. Let's be honest, you probably have better things to do. Keep reading to create a better workflow for pre-orders in Commerce and Studio.
Check the settings before Pre-Order Stage is live
- Locate the Session in the Client & Sessions > Sessions area and click on the session name.
- Check the session settings before setting the Pre-Order Stage to active (see below). Active stages appear in green and show a green Active badge next to the stage name.
Quick preview of the settings
Within the Stage preview, there should be a blue box indicating some of the settings:
- Check that "Pre-orders are turned on" is showing.
- In the first line of the blue box, you will see your Direct Fulfillment lab.
- The second line will indicate whether you will need to approve orders before they are submitted to the print lab.
- The third line indicates if the Catalog is ready.

Note: If there is a yellow box, it indicates that something is wrong. It could be that there are no lab products connected, maybe you aren't with an integrated lab, or something in your configuration doesn't add up. Review Supplier Setup
By using the grey Review Supplier Setup button within the blue box, you can establish which products go to the lab and which ones are self-fulfilled.
- A green box before the product means that it is direct fulfilled.
- A grey X means that it will need to be fulfilled by yourself and is not connected to the Direct Fulfilment lab.

Note: Digitals won't fulfil until after the production workflow is complete and subjects are matched to order. Learn how to match orders here. |
Image Matching Preferences
The system lets you choose the type of image you would like to be matched to image nodes for Direct Fulfillment products for imported orders or pre-orders.
- Within the session, click on the grey Edit button on the top right of the screen.
- Select whether you would like the Knockout, Original, or Manual Selection to be sent to the print lab.
- Select the crop you would like applied.
- For image submissions, you can also select whether you would like the Knockout, Original, or Manual Selection to be applied.
- Repeat these settings for the Digital Section.
Tag rules
If there are group, sibling, or yearbook tag rules in place, the system will follow these automatically. Ensure that it is all accurate prior to taking the session live.
